2011 Mahoney Sangiovese Las Brisas Vineyard
2011 Mahoney Sangiovese Las Brisas
Regular Price: $22.00

We are very excited to be releasing another of our small-lot Italian varietals from the Las Brisas vineyard, harkening back to Kathy Mahoney’s Italian ancestors. The most widely planted grape in Italy, Sangiovese shares a similar sensitivity-to-place with Pinot Noir -- something we know a little bit about. We continue to experiment with our little piece of Italy in the Carneros and hope you enjoy this latest offering.

The 2011 Mahoney Vineyards Sangiovese wine starts on the nose with bright creamy raspberry and mulberry jam that continues on in the mouth with a finish of chestnut and nutmeg. This lovely wine drinks like a light-bodied Zinfandel and is the perfect wine to pair with succulent barbequed ribs or fresh-baked pizza!

2014 Mahoney Vineyards Gavin Vineyard Chardonnay

2016 S.F. Chronicle Wine Competition

The Gavin Vineyard, named for Kathy’s family, comprises two blocks adjacent to the winery. These vines produce low yields of fruit with concentrated flavors. We harvested into small bins and went directly to press with whole clusters to minimize handling. Gentle pressing, a short settling period and barrel fermentation with a wide array of yeasts helped create complexity while preserving fruit character. Extended aging sur lie added richness and helped integrate French oak notes with the fruit. This complex wine has forward citrus and Granny Smith apple notes layered with yeasty toast and sweet oak.
2012 Mahoney Vineyards Pinot Noir Estate
2012 Mahoney Pinot Noir Estate
List Price: $28.00
Regular Price: $28.00

Our third release of the Mahoney “Estate” Pinot brings us back to our earlier years when our Pinots had a broader, more dense and luxurious mouthfeel. While too much oak in a wine can completely wash out the wine's fruit character (an especially vital component to Carneros wines), we are finding that if we increase the amount of French oak in our Pinots it helps to negate the sharp acidity in our wines. Just a bit more time in newer French oak has allowed our 2012 Pinots to preserve their natural fruit flavor profile while producing that silky, layered texture in the mouth that is the hallmark of fine Pinot Noir.
The 2012 Mahoney Vineyards Estate Pinot Noir is a combination of some of the best fruit from our Las Brisas and Mahoney Ranch vineyards. This wine highlights both the high-tone cherry characteristic of Las Brisas and the rich earthy cola of Mahoney Ranch.

2012 Mahoney Vineyards Pinot Noir Mahoney Ranch
2012 Mahoney Pinot Noir Mahoney Ranch
List Price: $38.00
Regular Price: $38.00

Located in the Carneros Appellation of Napa Valley, the Mahoney Ranch Vineyard spans the southwest facing slope behind our business office on Dealy Lane. The gently rolling hill provides many small microclimates for the 12 Pinot clones the vineyard contains. This is our driest, warmest vineyard, it has the most elevation change, and while it does see the summer fog and winds, both come and go more quickly than they do in our Las Brisas vineyard.

The Mahoney Ranch Vineyard Pinot clones express themselves quite differently than those in our Las Brisas vineyard. The Pinot off of this vineyard represents the darker, more foreboding style of Pinot that is both dense and intense on the palate. This 2012 Mahoney Ranch Pinot Noir has dark cherry fruit dominating the palate that while “big” is still perfectly balanced.

2013 Mahoney Pinot Noir Las Brisas Vineyard
2013 Mahoney Pinot Noir Las Brisas
List Price: $38.00
Regular Price: $38.00

We are using a bit more French oak to temper the acidity in our Pinots, while promoting a broader, softer sensation across the palate.  The 2013 Las Brisas Vineyard Pinot Noir has aromas typical of Carneros Pinots. The bright, red cherry fruit and spicy notes are complemented by a touch of the French oak vanillins.  The result is a lovely, layered wine with beautiful texture and a harmonious sense of balance.
