We are very excited to be releasing another of our small-lot Italian varietals from the Las Brisas vineyard, harkening back to Kathy Mahoney’s Italian ancestors. The most widely planted grape in Italy, Sangiovese shares a similar sensitivity-to-place with Pinot Noir -- something we know a little bit about. We continue to experiment with our little piece of Italy in the Carneros and hope you enjoy this latest offering.
The 2011 Mahoney Vineyards Sangiovese wine starts on the nose with bright creamy raspberry and mulberry jam that continues on in the mouth with a finish of chestnut and nutmeg. This lovely wine drinks like a light-bodied Zinfandel and is the perfect wine to pair with succulent barbequed ribs or fresh-baked pizza!
